AdBlue® solution (Urea and water) reduces harmful emissions from diesel engines using SCR technology in On Highway, Off Highway, Passenger Cars and other forms of diesel engines.
Some tractors, excavators, cranes and other mobile engines that run on diesel, but not on roads, are now equipped with SCR technology, which requires a fluid called AdBlue®. AdBlue® is filled into a dedicated tank, separate from the one for diesel. AdBlue® is a transparent liquid that is non-hazardous and easy to use. Thanks to SCR technology and AdBlue®, these vehicles are cleaner as their noxious nitrogen oxides emissions are considerably reduced.
If you have a commercial vehicle equipped with SCR technology with the standards Euro IV, V or Euro VI, you will need AdBlue®. These cover the following vehicles: •Commercial vehicles with SCR such as trucks, refuse trucks, fire engines… •Light-goods vehicles with SCR or “LGV” such as vans •Vehicles that transport passengers such as coaches, buses, school buses, minibuses
SCR technology and the need for AdBlue® is becoming more and more common for cars and other passenger vehicles; such as 4x4s, mini-buses, MPVs or cars (please check vehicle’s handbook to ascertain if you require AdBlue®). You can now buy vehicles equipped with an SCR system that uses AdBlue® from manufacturers such as : Renault, Peugeot, Citroën, Volkswagen, Audi, BMW, Mercedes Benz, GM / Opel, Ford, Toyota and Mazda. More and more manufacturers will introduce cars with SCR systems as the Euro 6 standard limiting nitrogen oxides emissions for cars and light-goods vehicles will be implemented in 2015 in the European Union.
